The Langer's Ball
Good. Irish. Music.
The Langer's Ball have been playing Irish Music in and around the Midwestern U.S. since 2007. Their set includes a wide variety of traditional, original & contemporary songs and instrumental tunes. A hard-working band, they have played well over 250 concerts in this short time, including booking three years in a row at the Iowa Irish Fest and two years at the Irish Fair of Minnesota, as well as playing an opening spot for Enter The Haggis from Toronto.
AS I ROVED OUT, their debut full-length, was released in July 2008. With all instruments played by Michael & Hannah, Jim Tarbox of the Irish Gazette says it's "...an assured set of both traditional and more contemporary songs that is a treasure from beginning to end." It also earned a special mention as one of the best CD's of 2008 by Paddy Rock Radio.
In the summer of 2009, The L.B. released SHIPS ARE SAILING. This new project brings full band recording with drums, bass, banjo vocal harmonies and electric guitar, as well as many guest insturments played by their friends from the Twin Cities scene, including members of The Wild Colonial Bhoys and The Spent .50's. Paddy Rock Radio says of the new set:"(The Langer's Ball)... have taken their diverse musical talents to the next level on this release with Melodic vocals that intertwine to perfection as heard on "I'm A Man You Don't Meet Every Day"... a gritty country ramble with "Whiskey From The Still" & "The Tinker's Fiddle" ...a cool little gypsy mix on "The Titanic" & "The Sailors Return" ...and even a Pogues track done very well with "Rainy Night In Soho." and named it #11 for the best of 2009 as well as earning a special mention from Shite 'n' Onions for Best Celtic Punk & Rock CD's of 2009!
